Updated: Nov 26, 2021

Scotland made it three consecutive wins against Australia winning 15-13 at Murrayfield. The match-winning try was scored by hooker and debutant Ewan Ashman.

Hamish Watson opened the scoring in the 23rd minute dotting down from a rampaging maul. Finn Russell added the conversion from the touchline.

On the cusp of half time Australia looked to have leveled the game through a try from Michael Hooper. However, it was ruled out for an illegal clear out by Allan Alaalatoa, who was then sent to the bin.

James O’Connor did get Australia on the board with a well stuck penalty right on half time. Leaving it 7-3 at the break.

On 44 minutes Rob Leota scored Australia’s first try taking a short line off Nic White’s pass from the base of the ruck. James O’Connor sent the conversion through the uprights.

Scotland’s second try came on 58 minutes following an excellent spiralling 50:22 from Russell. A brilliant finish in the corner followed by sub hooker Ewan Ashman on his debut. A finish any winger would be proud of. Russell missed the conversion.

Australia retook the lead with 15 minutes left as O’Connor landed another successful penalty. Russell responded however soon after with a well stuck penalty of his own.

Excellent defence from Scotland in the last 10 minutes meant they held on to beat Australia 15-13. To complete the third win in a row over Australia.

Next up for Scotland is South Africa with Australia travelling to Twickenham to face England.
