Updated: Nov 27, 2021

Seven tries in classic Sportsground conditions resulted in a welcomed return to the United Rugby Championship for Connacht.

It was a dream start for Connacht with Mack Hansen getting in for an early try. The conversion from Carty went wide.

After 9 minutes Stephen Myler responded with a penalty leaving the score 5-3. However, Carty quickly restored Connacht’s five-point lead.

The men from Galway then scored the try of the game as superb link play led to Hansen passing the ball in field for Shayne Bolton to score. The conversion was missed.

Then out of nothing Luke Morgan scored a length of the field try following brilliant footballing skills from Owen Watkins. Myler missed conversion in front of the posts in the stormy conditions.

On 23 minutes Oran McNulty opened the Ospreys defence up again with a brilliant right footstep and finish. The conversion again was missed. Myler replied on 35 minutes leaving the score 18-11 at the break.

The bonus point try for Connacht came from Sammy Arnold as he powered his way over just after half time. Carty added the extras.

Ospreys refused to lie down as Joe Hawkins scored under the posts. However, with 20 minutes left a penalty try from a Morgan high tackle proved decisive.

Substitute half backs Caolin Blade and Conor Fitzgerald got in on the try scoring as Connacht ran out 48-18 victors.

Connacht next face the difficult trip to Leinster with Ospreys hosting Ulster.
